The Categories


Entries should reflect the appearance, essence or personality of those portrayed. Images of families or groups are included in this category. Composite images are allowed as long as the digital postproduction is not a significant part of conveying the personality of the subject(s). Photographic works where the image manipulation or post production is not allowed


Entries in Wedding must be done in connection with an actual wedding event. Images should reflect the personality of the subject(s). They must include some visual reference(s) that defines the wedding event (traditional clothing, church towers etc.). Composite images are allowed as long as the digital postproduction is not a significant part of displaying the essence or the personality of the subject(s).


Includes advertising, architecture, industrial, fashion. Images with an intended use by a commercial client to promote or brand a product or company. Advertising, fashion, beauty, still life, food, architecture, corporate photography are all included in this category. Composite and non-composite images, and highly manipulated images (Photoshop or similar), are allowed as relevant in this category.

Illustrative / Digital Art

An Illustration is a graphic depiction of any concept or subject. The main principle of an Illustration is to elucidate or define a concept, story, literature, activity etc. in such a way as to provide a visual representation of the story, title or concept. Composite and non-composite images, and highly manipulated images (Photoshop or similar), are allowed as relevant in this category.

Nature (Landscape and Wildlife)

The Nature (landscape/wildlife) category consists of images intended to show the beauty of nature and wildlife. Wildlife images should be captured in their natural habitat. Panoramas are allowed in this category. Composite and non-composite images are allowed in this category

Reportage / Photojournalism

Images that illustrate an actual public or non-public event, life, an area of human interest, telling news that have meaning on the context or record of events, high impact and/or lasting emotional response. Images that illustrate sporting events are included in this category. Basic color and brightness adjustments, cropping, dodging and burning in are allowed. Only single-capture images will be accepted. Composite and multiple exposure images will not be accepted. The original captured image (in RAW or jpg) must be available if requested by the WPC.


WPC Award Ceremony in Singapore

The 10th World Photographic Cup Award ceremony will take place in Singapore on March 17, 2023 (Friday)!   This is the very first WPC Award Ceremony series to take place here in Singapore and in Asia.  SPDA is proud to be the host for the Award Ceremony in 2023 and definitely, look forward to welcoming more than 250 internatIonal professional photographers, judges and winners to Singapore and to the prestigious Award ceremony.

We want good photographers to send in their best photos / images to enable us to represent Singapore for the coming WPC2023!  There are 6 categories in which you can apply and only the top 3 images of each categories will be elected.

2) PORTRAIT CATEGORIES which include a) Natural Portrait and b) Illustrative Portrait

All entries must conform to the Rules and Guidelines below. Failure to comply may result in disqualification

  • All entry/entries must be original works from each entrant. Photos from workshops do not qualify
  • Images submitted must be:
    - 3,000 pixels on the longest side
    - Format: maximum-quality JPEG, to be under 4 megabytes
    - Embedded profile: sRGB, Adobe 98 or Greyscale
  • The Copyright of the images submitted will remain to the respective Creator/Photographer.
  • Entrants agree that entered image may be used at the discretion of the organizer and WPC in any of their printed materials, publications or electronic media with the necessary credits.
    In the event of dispute due to copyright issues, Entrants should contact WPC Singapore immediately.
  • By entering, the photographer acknowledged that employer, client and or subject have copyright release giving permission for the image to be published or exhibited in connection with these awards and that he/she is the author of the work.
  • Once an image is submitted for WPC, it cannot be submitted again IN ANY FORM into the competition, whether in the current year or in any subsequent year.
  • The images must be anonymous and in the case of images pertinent to advertising campaigns, they must not contain any text or graphic elements, which were not part of the original exposure.
  • Images containing text will be immediately disqualified.



  1. The decision of judges is final and no correspondence or appeal will be entertained. The jury is the ultimate arbiter.
  2. Only the top images in each category will be selected to represent Singapore in the WPC 2022.
  3. Each participants is only allowed to a maximum of 3 images per category.
  4. Deadline for all entries is  12th October 2022 2359 hours.
